1930 - Tilghman Street Bridge
Tilghman Street Bridge looking east from Front Street about 1930. This postcard photo was mde shortly after the bridge was completed, and illustrates the relative emptiness of the area of East Allentown around Union Boulevard. The Lehigh Portland Cement factory is about the only visible structure on the east side of the river, along with some high-voltage electrical transmission line towers.
