2491 Anatomy lecture
Image 2491 Lecture on anatomy for medical students around 1920 In the third row from the top, second from the right, is Elsa Lagergren, who graduated as a doctor in Stockholm in 1921 after completing her bachelor's degree in Uppsala. Later in the 1920s, she worked as a doctor at the Epidemic Hospital in Gothenburg and at the Gothenburg Children's Hospital. In 1928, she lived in the USA and had a position as a pediatrician at The Chicago Municipal Tuberculosis Sanitarium. Back in Gothenburg, she opened her own practice. She later worked, among other things, as a school doctor at Majorna in Gothenburg. A qualified guess is that the picture was taken in the anatomical theater that was at the Serafimer Hospital in Stockholm where the medical students received their education, but we have no notes or pictures to compare with. The museum has a collection of over 200 photographs belonging to Elsa Lagergren, several of which are included in Gunnel Hedvall's book Gothenburg Children's Hospital.
