Broadcasting Names of American Prisoners of War. As names of American military personnel reported by enemy sources in Korea as prisoners of war were released throughout last night and today by the Department of Defense. They were broadcast by the Columbia Broadcasting Company direct from the Pentagon. At the microphone is Griffing Bancroft, (center), Ron Cochran (left) is checking the list, and Mark Beale, engineer, is at the control board. Emergency addresses of personnel of the list have been notified that the names have been furnished the Far East Command by the enemy; that the Department of Defense cannot vouch for the accuracy of information supplied by enemy sources, and the official casualty status of the personnel listed will not be changed by virtue of the enemy having reported them as prisoners of war. Photograph released December 19, 1951. (5/26/2015)
