Bakhuis photo album NZASM Oosterlijn (East line, Delagoa Bay railway). Album with photos of the construction of the NZASM Oosterlijn (Pretoria - Lourenço Marques, later called Maputo). This album is from Johan Elisa Bakhuis (1869-1933), who was an engineer involved in the construction, which was completed in 1894. NZASM: Nederlandsch-Zuid-Afrikaansche Spoorwegmaatschappij. Description:- 58 sheets with recto and verso 2x58 = 116 black and white photographs (15.5x20 cm) of the construction of the Transvaal section of the Delagoabaai railroad of the NZASM (Nederlandsch Zuid-Afrikaansche Spoorweg Maatschappij). Other names of same railroad: Pretoria-Maputo/Lourenco Marques railroad, Delagoas railroad. Inauguration railroad was on January 1, 1895. - 4 sheets with 7 anthropological photographs same size. - 3 blank sheets. Total 116 + 7 = 123 photos.
