U.S. Navy Commander C.E. Hathaway and a 'friend' plan a mission over North Vietnam aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14). Hathaway was the commanding officer of Attack Squadron 195 (VA-195) "Dambusters" and the first Ticonderoga pilot to fly 200 missions over North Vietnam. Ticonderoga, with assigned Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW-5), was deployed to Vietnam from 19 October 1966 to 29 May 1967. Note: His friend is a famous World War I flying ace.
