Family in canoe on Puget Sound, ca. 1912
Native American people who lived around Puget Sound traveled long distances in their cedar canoes. In this photo, taken around 1912 by Edward S. Curtis, a family sets off across the waters of Puget Sound. Their large vessel was carved from a single cedar trunk. *Subjects (LCTGM): Canoes; Indians of North America--Washington (State)
