Intérieur de l'atelier Camille Pissarro avec peintures vers 1900 - Musée d'art et d'histoire Pontoise

Interior view of Camille Pissarro's studio at Éragny-sur-Epte, circa 1901. Numerous paintings are arranged against the walls and on the floor; the studio's western opening is visible at right. Richard R. Brettell reproduces this photograph in Pissarro's People and dates it to circa 1901. He also identifies among the works visible in the studio Pissarro's 1874 Portrait of Cézanne, visible in the upper part of the photograph near the door. This visual identification is not confirmed by any currently known archival caption, but is nevertheless historically consistent: the National Gallery in London states that Pissarro kept his Portrait of Cézanne in his studio until his death in 1903. The studio had been fitted out in 1893 on the upper floor of the former barn on the Éragny property. A contemporary photograph taken in 2026 shows the same part of the studio, with the western opening still recognizable. Documentary source: Richard R. Brettell, Pissarro's People, Munich/New York, DelMonico Books / Prestel, 2011, p. 293.
