{{en|1=Photograph of J. Stuart Blackton holding a paint brush and palette while standing at an easel: In 1920 Blackton purchased the Herbert L. Pratt mansion in Brooklyn (213 Clinton Avenue, demolished 1942) as a Christmas present for his wife, who hated it. This photograph was taken at the old Pratt mansion. Early in life Blackton made his living as a marine painter. His painting of his wife Paula is seen behind him.:Sources: — Brooklyn Daily Eagle, March 19, 1928 (year of purchase; year of sale is reported as 1921) — Beyond the Gilded Age (blog), August 2, 2012 (mansion history) — Marian Blackton Trimble, J. Stuart Blackton, A Personal Biography by His Daughter (1985; pp. 95–97). An alternate pose from this photo shoot appears on page 97, and Trimble identifies the location and the subject of the full-length portrait.
