Persian Corridor – British and American Lend-Lease supplies transferred to the Soviet Union during World War II. Virgil M. Hone picked up a mascot for his fleet of trucks somewhere in the Persian Corridor with a U.S. Army convoy carrying supplies for the aid of Russia. The pup has been named G.I. John. All American troops are called “John” by the Iranians. Photographed by Nick Parrino, March 1943. Office of War Information Photograph, 29930-E. (2016/02/19)
