Lot-803-26

Aleutian Islands Campaign, June 1942 - August 1943. Allied Landing on Attu Island, May 11 1943. The Chow Was Hot, The Company Congenial. There was nothing fancy about this meal prepared by sailors in the Holtz Bay area on May 19, but the food was hot. Note the ski standing upright in the foreground. Snow can be found year round on Attu Island. Note the reused Japanese landing boat in the background. U.S. Navy photograph, released May 29, 1943. Photographed through Mylar sleeve. (2015/11/06)
