The Admiral Watches the Sea. The over-constant vigil from the bridge. Rear Admiral Alexander Sharp leans on the rail of the bridge of the flagship of an U.S. convoy on the North Atlantic. At his side is an aide. It’s such alertness as this, on the part of all members of the fleet, that’s getting America’s war supplies through to the Allies. Office of War Information Photograph, 9-11 May 1942. Original photograph is small. (2015/12/18)
