Louisa Catherine Denny Frye, Seattle, ca. 1910
Louisa Catherine Denny, the eldest child of Arthur and Mary Ann Boren Denny, was only about seven years old when she crossed the continent on the Oregon Trail with her parents and younger sister. She married Seattle businessman George Frye in 1860, and the couple had six children. Active in her husband’s various business interests, she took over their management after he died in 1912. Louisa, also known as Kate, died in 1924. Here, she appears in a portrait made at Seattle's prominent Curtis Studio. *People: Frye, Louisa Denny Frye (1844-1924)
