Photograph from Heinrich Kraemers comrades - obverse
Comrades of Heinrich Krämer, whose background is unknown. This real photo postcard (RPPC) was acquired in Mainz-Kastel. It dates from the First World War, between 1914 and 1918. Three of the men are wearing drill-cloth tunics, while one wears a striped hospital uniform; this suggests the photo was taken at a military hospital or medical facility and that the subjects are soldiers in recovery. The soldier at the front left wears a field cap (a so-called *Krätzchen*), while the one at the front right wears a peaked cap. Two cockades are affixed to the center of the forehead: the upper one is black, white, and red, representing the German Empire, while the lower one is black, white, and black, representing Prussia.
