RA-5C RVAH-5 and A-3B VAH-2 on USS Ranger (CVA-61) 1965

A U.S. Navy North American RA-5C Vigilante (BuNo 149307) from Heavy Reconnaissance Squadron RVAH-5 Savage Sons and a Douglas A-3B Skywarrior (BuNo 147659) from Heavy Attack Squadron VAH-2 Det.M Royal Rampants are readied for launching on the waist catapults of the aircraft carrier USS Ranger (CVA-61). Both squadrons were assigned for Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9) aboard the Ranger for a deployment to Vietnam from 5 August 1964 to 6 May 1965. The RA-5C 149307 was retired to the MASDC as 4A0003 on 23 August 1970, the (later converted) EKA-3B 147659 as 2A0079 on 16 October 1973.
