SC 201598-S - Series of 10 photos showing individual soldiers of the 69th Division after they had just come through their first action against the enemy.
The 69th Division, in early March, drove the Germans from dominating positions in the heart of the Siegfried Line. Answers to the soldiers' reactions to combat are as varied as the men themselves. "It was different from anything I ever saw," said Pvt. Fred I. Green, of Eton, Ohio. 4 March, 1945. Company B, 1st Battalion, 273rd Infantry Regiment, 69th Infantry Division. Photographer: T/5 C. B. Sellers, 165th Signal Photo Co.
