Statue of a Union soldier, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania
In Chambersburg, Pennsylvania's Memorial Square, a statue of a Union soldier stands beside a fountain, facing south to symbolically ward off the Confederate soldiers who once ambushed Chambersburg and held it for ransom during the U.S. Civil War of the 1860s. The statue was installed in 1878.
