USACE LNO trip slides Vietnam 7.97
Completion of the deep draft berth at Newport is still scheduled for October 1967 although work on berth #1 is approximately one week behind schedule at this time. During April the 41st Engineer Company (PC) and D Company of the 62nd Engineer Battalion installed underwater fencing and security lighting for the wharfs. Still to be constructed is a mine boom which will be located at the north end of the port area.
