AD-4 makes 50,000th landing on USS Valley Forge (CVA-45) in 1953
U.S. Navy Commander C.V. Johnson taxies forward after making the 50,000th landing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Valley Forge (CVA-45), during operations off Korea on 10 May 1953. His plane is a Douglas AD-4 Skyraider from Fighter Squadron 54 (VF-54) "Hell's Angels". Another Skyraider is flying in the upper right. Note the ship's arresting gear wires, after elevator, and flight deck crewmen. Valley Forge, with assigned Carrier Air Group 5 (CVG-5), was deployed to Korea from 20 November 1952 to 25 June 1953.
