Acadian House LSU Rural Life Museum by Highsmith

The "Acadian House" (foreground), one of dozens of early cabins and other rudimentary or re-created structures displayed at the LSU (Louisiana State University) Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge, the capital of Louisiana. Named "one of the top 10 outdoor museums in the world" by the British Museum, the museum includes authentially furnished early settlers' buildings and thousands of artifacts displaying various cultures and types of construction. Acadians, or "Cajuns," as they often call themselves in Louisiana, were migrants from French-speaking Canada who fled oppression from the English-speaking majority.
